Award-winning Model Innovative Development Plan
Ano Magniton Nisoi
The idea for this project has its roots before 2016. Some people sharing a mutual love of the sea, the diving, the underwater cultural and natural heritage and the islands of Alonissos and Skopelos approached our project from different angles and laid the foundations of its actual form. I would like to thank Mrs Elpida Hadjidakis, the archaeologist who found and excavated the shipwreck of Peristera, the late Mr Dimitris Mavrikis, who informed the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities. I would also like to thank Mr Dimitrios Markatos and Mr Vasileios Koniordos for their guidance and support throughout the project, Ms Eirini Chrysocheri and Ms Fotini Vlachaki for the permission to use information from their studies, Mr Konstantinos Koutsos, for all data he provided concerning diving tourism, my valuable assistant Ms Anastasia Protopapadakis, Mr Christos Agouridis, who gladly accepted me in H.I.M.A. team, Mr Elias Spondylis, who is never tired of teaching the younger ones, and finally Mr Costas Mavrikis whose book “Ano Magniton Nisoi” has been my inspiration.
